This festive season light a Candle of HopeWith the shorter, colder days and darker nights we all know the Christmas season can’t be far away. And when the multi-million pound department store adverts start appearing on Saturday night TV and the High Street lights go up then we really sense it’s time to start organising lists of presents and festive supplies.

But between the days spent shopping and nights spent gift-wrapping, our thoughts often turn to the loved ones missing this year – the family member absent from the Christmas table or the friend not there to clink glasses.

With its emphasis on family and togetherness, it’s often over Christmas that we think of those we’ve lost to cancer over the years. Nearly everyone has someone they care for who has been affected by the disease which is why the Candle of Hope can inspire us all at this time of year.

The appeal helps people remember those who have faced cancer – whether they’ve succumbed to the disease, beaten it or are still being treated. As well as remembering friends and family, it also gives inspiration through a donation towards cancer prevention research that will help protect future generations against the disease. The donation also funds a health information programme to raise awareness about how people can reduce their risk of the disease through lifestyle changes.

For every donation made to the Candle of Hope appeal, World Cancer Research Fund will send you a personalised candle to share on social media. All the candles will be shared on our Facebook page to remember the diagnosed with cancer every year, as well as those who have died.

So during this festive season light your Candle of Hope and join us in our fight against cancer. The appeal starts on Monday, November 18.
